Visual Fields

Visual fields are a diagnostic test for following the course and treatment of glaucoma. Additionally, they are very useful in diagnosing some brain and other visual system tumors and vascular anomalies. What they do is measure the peripheral vision that you have. This is done by having you look at a target straight ahead. While you are doing this a light or "stimulus" is flashed into the periphery of your vision, side, top, or bottom. Depending on the pattern of your responses, we can make a determination of whether you are developing glaucoma, how you are progressing with your treatment, or whether you have other problems.
